Our Team


Christopher R. Wagner has 23 years experience in various energy-related banking, corporate finance and advisory roles. Prior to founding Rivington, Chris was a founding member and Chief Financial Officer of Shenandoah Energy Inc., a privately held energy company focused on the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S.  In July 2001 Shenandoah was sold for $421 million, yielding 115% IRR/3.4x ROI to the equity holders.  From 1993 to 1999, Chris was employed by ING Baring Furman Selz LLC (New York) in the Natural Resources Group.  While at ING, Chris’ team originated and executed corporate finance and investment banking transactions within the small cap upstream energy space.  Prior to joining ING, he worked in the Petroleum & Minerals group of First City, Texas.  Chris graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Economics.  Christopher Wagner is a registered rep.

Scott A. Logan brings 15 years of experience in commercial and investment banking, corporate finance and advisory roles within the oil and gas industry. Prior to founding Rivington, Scott was with McDonald Investment's Energy Investment Banking Group focusing on public equity issuances and sell-side M&A assignments. Prior to joining McDonald, Scott was an Assistant Vice President with BankBoston's Energy & Utilities Group. Scott began his career as an Associate in the Natural Resources Group of ING Baring LLC in 1997. Scott graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1991 with a B.A. in History, and the University of Denver in 1997 with an M.S. in Finance.  Scott Logan is a registered rep.

Rick Makin is a 26 year veteran in the energy and debt capital markets sector. Prior to joining Rivington Capital on October 2011, Rick spent three years as a Managing Director at GE Capital Markets, originating out of the $20 billion portfolio within Energy Financial Services. Prior to GE, Rick created the Energy Finance Group at Merrill Lynch Capital, having started that initiative in December 2006 with two other partners. He was responsible for the syndication of all senior, secured and second lien transactions originated out of the Energy Finance Group. From 1998-2006, Makin was a Managing Director in the Leveraged Syndicated Capital Markets Group at Banc of America Securities (and predecessor banks). During his nine year tenor, Rick and his team raised over $40 billion of capital for energy clients in North America, primarily within the bank, institutional and second lien markets. Before moving up to Boston in 1998, Rick held various positions in energy finance and syndications in New York including: ING Baring Furman Selz; BZW Capital; Barclays Bank; and Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Rick is NASD licensed for Series 7, 24 and 63 and holds a BA in Economics from Middlebury College.

Dan Foley brings over 30+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining RCA, Mr. Foley was Chief Financial Officer of Rancher Energy Corp., responsible financial and accounting functions for that Denver-based publicly-traded oil and gas company. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Foley was Treasurer of Aspect Energy in Denver, Colorado, where he was responsible for all financial functions and information technology. From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Foley was Senior Vice President--Corporate Finance at Mission Resources Corporation in Houston, Texas, where he was responsible for corporate activities in financial markets, corporate mergers & acquisitions, and other financial functions. Dan received an M.B.A in Finance with distinction from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. & Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Rice University, Houston, Texas.

Robert Long brings 13 years of commercial and investment banking experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Rivington in September 2008, Bobby was a Vice President in BNP Paribas’ Energy Finance Group in Houston, where he focused on energy-related oil and gas financings. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Bobby was an Analyst at Banc One Capital Markets in Houston. Bobby graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in Finance.  Robert Long is a registered rep.
